Brunswick Heads

Brunswick Heads, a little north of Byron Bay, was the first settlement in Byron Shire. Originally a shipping port for cedar getters, Bruns was a convenient stop off point for travelers between the Tweed and Ballina. In true Aussie spirit travelers didn't let crossing the Brunswick River bother them. Passengers in light coaches hopped in dinghies while bouyant logs were attached to the wheels of coaches to float them across behind swimming horses. http://www.aussiegateways.com/brunswick/?D=6

Times change but the abundance in beauty and charm and the opportunities for simple pleasures make Brunswick Heads a very special and very desirable little town.
