Each day brings a new find.

Pumice washed up after a storm. A new Pacific Island breached the ocean surface in 2006 from an eruption of a volcano in the Tongan island chain. Gases trapped like bubbles in the magma cause the pumice, frothed volcanic glass, to be bouyant. This was washed up on South Golden Beach.

This is Ocean Shores beach from South Golden, the pines at New Brighton to the Brunswick River. From the far side of the Brunswick you can walk along the beach to Byron Bay and Cape Byron with the lighthouse on the headland.

Ocean Shores - keep the secret.

Perched in a unique amphitheatre with glorious ocean and rural vistas rests Ocean Shores, home to the renowned Country Club. Bounded by the Brunswick River to the south, Billinudgel to the north and South Golden Beach and New Brighton to the east with kilometers of pristine beaches and an abundance of wild life, Ocean Shores is home to an eclectic collection of people where a comfortable sense of community is welcoming. This is much more than a beautiful town. It holds secret treasures and locals are happy to keep their secret.

Watch out for more photos of each small village and town as they are revisited again and again.

In time I'll be posting again and again about each village and town in Byron Zone. To see all I've posted about a place click on the tag under a post and all posts with that tag will come to your screen.

For now this is a beginning and I'm posting a sample of the things I believe make each place special.
